By a local couple from their little cabin on Salt Spring Island.
We are fuelled by decaf coffee, good meals with friends, still-warm baked goods, expansive ocean views and being able to see the stars at night. Our love of high-quality made-to-last products inspired us to make accessing our unique island made goods, easier to do - by bringing them all together in one place.
We are a brown latinx + white, queer owned business that operates on Coast Salish Traditional Territories of the Hul'quimi'num and Senćoŧen speaking peoples. We are committed to building an equitable, anti-racist business that considers our environmental and social impact with every business decision we make.
island made living
Our way of life is 'different' here. Living with the ocean on all sides and among the trees, we all seem to move at a pace that matches the seasons. The hum of the summer, the retreat of winter. Surrounded by so much beauty, we have an appreciation for the good things in life, which more often than not happen to be the simple things. Curling up with a good cup of freshly roasted coffee. The warmth of an old wool sweater. Hot days spent cultivating the garden, daily plunges in the lake. Foggy nights with the smell of wood smoke in the air. It ignites a magical feeling, no matter how long you've lived here or how short your visit. It's that little bit of 'island magic' that can be found in every piece created here. We bring these handmade goods to you with the intention of positively impacting your life, your wellness, and your home. Just the way they impact ours. We lovingly refer to it all as island made living.
the gulf islands
are our home
We started this business with the desire to make a positive impact in our community. To provide another outlet for the talented makers to connect with both loyal and new customers. Founded during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was clearer than ever to us that this long time dream needed to come to fruition.
We see first hand how every sale makes an impact. Your support means so much to the community here. We host many visitors each year that come to experience the magic and beauty of the Gulf Islands. We feel blessed to call it home and to contribute to the economic resilience of these rural islands year round.
we offset the carbon emissions
from every package we ship to you
We are a climate positive company. We calculate the carbon emissions that shipping each package from our cabin to your home creates, and then we offset those emissions by sponsoring sustainability projects, purchasing verified carbon offsets. We offset more than we calculate to ensure we are not only carbon neutral, but climate positive.
Supporting Canadian and internationally-based carbon offsetting projects that create jobs and support the local communities where they are developed play a big role in ensuring a better future for our planet. Our commitment to anti-racist work goes hand in hand with this commitment as we intentionally choose to fund projects that benefit underserved, racialized communities and BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colour) lead projects first.
We proudly work with Carbonzero to achieve this, and our shipping is certified Carbonzero.
